Mask ProjectThis project was amazing! In it we had to create a mask based on how we have been socialized in our society today. I named it The Ordinary Life of a Teenaged Cat, which is based off how I was socialized at my old school. This project took two weeks to do, and was more difficult than you would think. For everything on our mask, we had to explain how that has socialized us in our society today. I worked extremely hard on this project and would love to work a little more on it (it needs a little more refinement...). If you want to see it in real life, it will be hanging up on the wall, directly outside of Matt Hughes' room.

Collapse ScenarioFor the past few weeks, we have been working on building and destroying a complex society. We started out writing a biography in the form of an autobiography, their thoughts, or a diary. The next thing we had to do was create a website to show what we have "discovered" about our society. Click Here to see the project homepage. Click this area to see my page. Or Click Here to just read the story written for this assignment. Hope you enjoy!

Model United NationsFor this unit, we were studying a global issue, and voting on it just like the United Nations would in the General Assembly. The first issue we did was on Palestine and Israel. The second issue we did was on Iran and nuclear power plants. This was a challenge for me to do because of the country I decided to use, which was Japan, who is not very active in these issues.

Brave New World
For this unit we read Brave New World by Aldus Huxley. the story is based roughly 600 years in the future, and is about how our society has turned into a dystopian society, the opposite of an utopia. I found that the most interesting theme from the story would have to be the idea of a dystopian society. My reasoning for this would have to be that it can be connected to our society. America tries to hide the truth from its citizens, to make everyone happier. Because, you know, ignorance is bliss. So after we were done with the book, we started figuring out what we wanted to do that would be dystopian themed. I decided to write a story based off of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Now do not judge before you finish reading. The show is very happy, barely anything goes wrong. So I decided to screw everything up in the land they live in. The usually gentle ruler is an evil dictator, and the protagonists best friend, betrays all of them. I actually struggled in trying to figure out what I actually wanted to write. I knew I wanted to write this fan-fiction, but certain themes changed completely during the writing progress. I even lost 5 different pages, and I had to rewrite them! The story can be read in the preview, but you can also click this link to read it. I am warning you though, I write dark stories, so there is gore and blood in the story. Caution if you are sensitive to things like that! The project actually helped me grow in this class by helping me learn more about sentence structure and personifying animals. I work well with flowing my sentences together, however, personifying animals kinda gets hard. I had to change the word, 'everyone' to 'everypony', 'hand/s' to 'hoof/hooves', and I also had to use different words, like 'horn', 'wing/wings', and 'mane/tail', to pertain to the story and the animals being used. I would like to write a sequel to the story in a different perspective, elaborating on the 3 year long war that takes place at the end of the story.
